What’s News at Aspen

• In April 2007 IMS ranked Aspen as South Africa's top pharmaceutical manufacturer in the private market for the first time. This is in addition to Aspen's ranking as Africa's largest pharmaceutical manufacturer

• Aspen was ranked second amongst managed healthcare providers and funders by IMS. It is the only generics company to feature in the top 10.

• Focus on Aspen's robust pipeline has yielded more than 200 products, which are presently awaiting registration at the South African Medicines Control Council (MCC).

• Products recently launched by Aspen include Aspen Simvastatin, Tamsul, Tazobax and the new generic ARVs – Viread and Truvada. Additional new products include Almadin, Nausetron and AspenSertraline.

• Aspen's investment in manufacturing facilities since 2003 is set to exceed R1 billion in the forthcoming year.

• Aspen increased its ARV offering with the introduction of Viread® and Truvada®, which are distributed on behalf of Gilead Life Sciences.

• Aspen concluded a technical transfer and manufacture agreement with Bristol-Meyers Squibb for a generic version of Atazanavir.

• Aspen's ARVs entered into new territories and they are presently used in the treatment of an estimated 500 000 patients across Africa.
